Hi guys ,
This is a quick post . If you are using Citrix receiver 4.10 and you upgrade to 4.11 , all hell will break loose in your Citrix environment . If you want to know how to fix the issues which come when you upgrade to 4.11 from 4.10 please follow along .
Day before yesterday I decided to upgrade the receiver to latest version . I set the deployment for evening and went home . Next day when I reach office I see so many emails with receiver vanishing from the taskbar . Now , I see my system and its the same issue. So I think ok let me run the Citrix clean-up Utility and then install 4.11 again but no luck .
I remove 4.11 and install from Software center and it does not work . I get the following error just after installing the 4.11 version from Software center :
As you can see the SelfService Plugin is not able to start .
I check the event viewer and I get the following error in the event viewer . After upgrade from 4.10 to 4.11 the receiver tries to run under system account and since you cannot open receiver with system account it fails to start .
I get freaked seeing this error and wonder why the receiver is switching to system account . Nothing is available online .I try installing both versions manually but it does not work. So finally after checking with Citrix , I find that it’s a Bug which will get fixed in 4.12 version which will be released by end of May . If you need to get the issue fixed for now you will need to roll back to 4.9- LTSR version.
Final solution :
1. Remove the 4.11 version by running Citrix clean-up utility .
2. Install the Citrix receiver 4.9-LTSR version .
This will fix the issue for you
