I am back with a new blog and this time I want to highlight an issue which might come when you upgrade from Xendesktop 7.15- CU1 to Xendesktop 7.15- CU02 . I initiated the upgrade on Saturday night and when I came office on Monday morning I got flooded with incidents that users cannot launch the applications . I checked the VDA servers and see temporary profiles getting created .
Environment details :-
VDA; 7.15 CU02
Server: 2012 R2
Problem:- Temporary User Profiles Received Instead of Citrix Profile Management Profiles
Event id: 1511
Source: User Profile Service , or Microsoft Windows User Profiles Service
Type: Error
Message: Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.
When we checked on the VDA Microsoft App-v And dependent services not started below services
VDA are also showing below errors :-
On the Non – working server we are able to see that UPM policy Not -applying – getting access denied.
On the working server we are able to see that UPM policy applying correctly – without any issue.
To fix the issue went ahead and did the following steps:
Deleted all the files and folders under “C:\ProgramData\Citrix\GroupPolicy”
Perform Gpupdate /force logoff and log back again.
Checked on “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\Citrix\UserprofileManagement”
We can see that profile store is mapped with respective user.
We rebooted the VDA servers after implementing the above mentioned steps and deleted all the temporary profiles from C:\users and also made sure there was no temp profile on – “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList”
Rebooted the VDA server again .
